R4AR ’18 Recap

Ride 4 A Reason 2018 is in the books! This year’s ride brought us some surprises regarding the weather. It was our 5th year doing the ride and the very first time our start was delayed. Strong storms and rain halted our 8:00 started. It wasn’t ideal, but it did give us a relaxed time for all of the volunteers and riders to visit with each other. We’re also convinced that we ended up raising more money through our raffle drawing than if it hadn’t stormed, so that is something.

Unfortunately, the rain did keep some riders away altogether. However, those that stuck around and patiently waited were rewarded with a large gap in the middle of the day with no rain and plenty of time to get their rides in still. The wind was very strong, but provided both assistance on the first half and resistance on the way back in.

This was the first time we offered the option of a 5 mile family ride, and it ended up being our most popular distance! We had children from age 3 all the way up to over 60 riding this pleasant route through a bit of a Amish countryside and quaint Shipshewana neighborhoods.

We all love a good ride, but the purpose of all this riding and raffling was to raise money for ONS. Through the generous sponsorships of our local businesses, ride registrations, donations, and raffle, we were able to raise a grand total of $14,945 that will go directly towards providing vital nutrients to orphaned and vulnerable children around the world; helping improve their health and development.

We want to say “THANK YOU” to our sponsors!

ECHELON sponsor ($5,000) = Encompass Nutrients

PACELINE sponsors ($1,000) = Community Chiropractic & Wellness Center and Tuscany Motor Co.

CADENCE sponsors ($500) = Shipshe Auto Service & Middlebury Electric

PROLOGUE sponsors ($250) = Solomon Mier Manor, Kent Miller Homes, 1st Source Bank, Crystal Valley Sales, Johnson Chiropractic, and Hilltop Wealth Management of Raymond James.

We’d also like to thank Team Cheryl Waggoner for raising the most dollars. This makes 2 years in a row!

Finally, we want to thank the businesses that donated items for our raffle! Fremont Cycle & Fitness, Community Chiropractic & Wellness Center, Pumpkinvine Cyclery, and Heartland Bike Shop.

We still have over 5,000 children waiting to receive our nutrients in countries like Uganda, Philipines, Thailand, and Ethiopia. We appreciate your thoughtful consideration in making a donation and/or helping us spread the mission of Orphan Nutrition Sponsorship so we can continue taking Nutrition on Mission!
